Meet Lindsey and Carl! This sweet couple with the help of Brittany Barclay took their engagement pictures out at The French Farmhouse and are getting married in 2020!
So How Did they meet?
Lindsey Here.. Carl and I met through mutual friends in May of 2015 I had just finished my freshman year of college, and had plans to attend a sorority sisters birthday party the last weekend before I moved home for the summer. My best friend (and now bridesmaid!) invited her boyfriend to come with us, and he brought a friend from the Army that was visiting him for the weekend. That friend ended up being Carl, and the two of us spent the entire party talking only to each other. I honestly didn’t think anything would come of it, because he was still stationed in Washington state and I was living in Lubbock, Texas. But we exchanged phone numbers and spent the entire next year talking to each other long-distance. Thank God for Skype haha. A little over a year after we first met, he moved to Lubbock to live with his friend that he’d come to the birthday party with, and we’ve been together ever since. He eventually moved to Austin to attend the University of Texas, so out of the almost five years we’ve known each other, we’ve been long-distance three and a half of those. It’s definitely been tough at times, but we’ve both put in the effort to make time for our relationship, so I wouldn’t have it any other way.
How Did Carl Propose?
Carl proposed to me almost a year ago! For months, he had been planning an elaborate scavenger hunt. On Christmas Eve, Carl gave me a card that had the first clue inside. It was totally unexpected and I had no idea what was coming. We spent the evening revisiting all our special places and memories. Clues were hidden in the Christmas Tree at my childhood home, the fireplace where we loved to make s’mores on summer nights, on my desk in my classroom, and more. The final clue lead us to a beach on Lake Texoma. He had planned this night down to the minute, with our arrival lining up with the most picture-perfect sunset spreading across the horizon. At the edge of the water, he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. By that point I had kind of caught on to what was happening and was SO nervous haha, but obviously I said yes!
What are you most excited about getting married?
There are so many things about getting married that I’m excited about. Obviously I’m counting down the days (seconds, really) to our wedding, but I’m most excited about no longer living in separate places! The majority of our relationship has been spent living in different places and while I’ve loved all the long weekends and holiday breaks we’ve gotten to spend together, I cannot wait to leave behind the long drives, late nights, different time zones, and that longing feeling that I can’t seem to shake every time we’re apart. I know every one says this, but Carl is truly my best friend, and I’m just excited to spend every day of my life with him.
