The Sweetest Details | Katie and Jeremy

Everyone, Meet the Millers! Katie and Jeremy had a wedding to die for! They are some of the sweetest people around, with one of the most Pinterest-worthy days. You are going to be OBSESSED with every tiny detail of their wedding.

How Sweet it is

The new Mr. and Mrs. Miller have to be some of the happiest people in the world. You could not have paid either of them to stop smiling! On top of that, every moment of their day was so perfectly picked for them. They took the time and had the special moments they really wanted. From their first look to their send-off, there really wasn’t a second wasted or a moment that didn’t make a stunning and memorable moment. One thing we really loved was how they had their families come up to the altar during the ceremony and they prayed together. It was such a beautiful moment to watch, and you could really tell how much it meant to them and their family.

Take a Moment for the Details

If we have said it once, we have said it a thousand times. Seeing how each couple transforms the venue is priceless. Everybody is different, and each couple has moments and pieces that are important to them. Katie and Jeremy really put in the work and had the sweetest, most memorable details. There were beautiful programs on seats in the chapel, stunning flowers lining the aisle and once the guests headed over to the venue for cocktail hour they had the seating chart that dreams are made of. They truly thought of everything, and you will see even more small moments as you look through the photos. Absolutely beautiful. (Also- keep an eye out for a furry four-legged friend taking a bite out of the cake)

Timeless Spring Wedding | Kelsey and Jake

We are thrilled to share this stunning spring wedding with you all! Kelsey and Jake are one of the happiest, sweetest couples around and it really showed throughout their day. You can just see their joy in these photos, and let us tell you- it is infectious!

Beautiful Spring Day

The decor of this wedding. Unreal. Kelsey had such a timeless and classic vision, but she threw in some color for a little extra life, and WOW. This was one of our first real Spring weddings of this year, and it is just magical. We may be a little biased, but spring is a really magical time at the Farmhouse. Everything is green, our cows have had babies and it really all just comes together and you can see your decor POP. We love that Kelsey and Jake jumped on it and had a spring wedding, even if it meant the boys watching The Masters from the groom’s room in their suits. Thanks for taking one for the team, guys!

Incredible People

The new Mr. and Mrs. Wear are some of the loveliest people around! We are definitely partial, but we have the nicest couples. Kelsey and Jake were so excited for their wedding day, and they didn’t take a single moment for granted. They came in fully ready to enjoy the day with their wedding party, and ready to celebrate the night with all of their loved ones. It was so special to see just how excited everyone that came through the venue was. Every single bridesmaid and groomsmen were on cloud nine, right along with Kelsey and Jake. It is so heartwarming to see our couples crew rally and celebrate alongside them.

Congratulations Kelsey and Jake! We are so thankful you are a Farmhouse Couple!

Magical Day with the Swanson’s | Rheagan & James

The new Mr. and Mrs. Swanson had a MAGICAL day. Rheagan and James created such a stunning day and really had a blast here at the Farmhouse. They sprinkled in some really fun and stunning moments in their day, that added so much.

Magical Morning with the Girls

We love when the girls get here in the morning. They are always so so excited to be here and spend the day relaxing and glamming with each other. Everyone always looks so gorgeous, and really makes the most of the day. On this particular day, there might have been one tiny girl that was AMPED about being “one of the girls.” You will see just how excited this flower girl was. She could not contain herself. She brought the energy we want everyone to have on a wedding day. Straight-up hyped.

The First Touch

Rheagan and James had one of the most special moments we have seen in a while. In place of a “first look”, the two of them decided they wanted to do a “first touch.” If not seeing each other is really important, then this was a beautiful option. They had a quiet moment to themselves, where they read each other letters that they had written to each other. Such a special moment to have with each other, and to be able to look back on for all the years to come.

It’s all Smiles | Audrey and Colton

The new Mr. and Mrs. Albracht had an INCREDIBLE wedding. The Farmhouse was alive with them, their bridal party and loved ones. Truly such a special day for some really special people. It was smiles all around. We are so thrilled to be able to call them a Farmhouse Couple.

Get Ready in Style

Audrey and Colton did everything in style. Right down to every detail. We could not have been more impressed with how thoughtful their day was. From the get-go, it was clear it was going to be a stunning day. When Audrey and her girls filed in, we were in love with their cute matching PJ sets. However, what really threw it over-the-top, was how the drinks they were toasting with, matched their jammies. I mean.. c’mon. How cute! We really love seeing the girls come in and be so comfortable in the bridal suite, and there supporting their girls. It is pretty magical.

What we don’t get to see photo-proof of very often, is the groom and his guys relaxing and hanging out in the groom’s room! These guys were LOVING it. Playing video games, and just hanging out together. We love to see it!

It’s All Smiles

Audrey might have been one of the happiest people of all time, her smile never left her face. She lit the whole venue right up. You can tell how intentional she was with her big day,  and what was important to her. One thing her and Colton did that was so special, was have framed photos on the porch mantle of their loved ones that could only be there in spirit.

They also had a beautiful indoor ceremony in front of the three-ring-door. Then, had a reception to remember. This group threw down on the dance floor. It is rare that every person is on the dance floor, but this group was darn close! Everyone was so hyped for the Albracht’s, and boy it showed just how loved they are.

Tips by Kels

After being officially open for a year, I have gotten to experience SO many weddings, and seen SO many different hurdles my couples have overcome. Here are a few tips I have gathered throughout our first year, and I think would be helpful for any bride planning her big day. Disclaimer: These are just my opinions. Do what is right for you, and your wedding!

This Seems Simple … Hire good vendors and trust them to bring your Wedding-Day-Dreams to life.

1. A Month of Coordinator (otherwise known as a “day of”) is a must! A good planner will keep everything organized, be in tune with your family dynamics, create your wedding timeline and keep everything on track. They will also create your floorplan, communicate with all vendors, successfully get you and your bridal party down the aisle, and take care of any problems that occur, big or small, and most likely you won’t even know about it. And, that is only scratching the surface of what they do. Remember if you have a family member doing this job they will most likely be a seated guest. If you will have over 150 guests I recommend your planner having an assistant.

2. A good caterer that serves and busses the food. Having a crew that clears all the trash, plates and tables is a huge help to all family members, your bridal party and vendors.

3. One Bartender per every 50 guests will help avoid lines and guests waiting.

4. Remember that your Planner, Photographer, and DJ will keep everything on time and on track.

Water! This is most often forgotten and needed especially at the end of the night!

  • I know alcohol is on everyone’s mind, but trust me. Throwing in several packs of water will be a huge hit at the end of the night. Especially after everyone has been tearing it up on the dance floor.

Tidy up the bridal suite before the photographer arrives

  • This will help to avoid any trash in the background of any photos (Hello, Anthropologie mirrors galore). It will also save time, avoid stress and cut down on lost items at the end of the night when trying to clean up!

Table Numbers

  • It is important to have table numbers, or table names, at every table even if you don’t do a seating chart. This helps the planner and your DJ release tables to the buffet line. However, I always recommend a seating chart. I know it’s more time on the front end, but when it comes time for dinner everyone has a seat. It makes guests less obligated to pull up chairs wherever they want to be close to friends.

Have an end-of-the-night plan!

  • Who is taking what, what vendors are coming back and what is all to be thrown away? This means rentals (plates, napkins, linens), florals, leftover food and cake, and any personal decor you brought in. I recommend assigning different people different tasks. That way mother and father of the bride aren’t taking everything. In most cases, they won’t have room.

Remember … Just my opinion take it or leave it … No kids besides immediate family.

  • Often times I find myself just watching parents chase their very very tired, way-passed-bedtime, sugar overdosed kids everywhere. More often than not, they look at me and are like, “boy… I should have gotten a sitter.” You want your family and friends to have fun, and I can guarantee that the little nugget won’t remember it. You want your family and friends to have fun!

Money-Saving tip .. Use bridesmaid’s bouquets as extra centerpieces on tables.

  • Typically after ceremony photos, the beautiful bridesmaid’s bouquets (that aren’t cheap) just get thrown down or left up in the bridal suite. Put the vases on the table and after photos are done during cocktail hour just have the bridesmaids pop them in the vases on the table for some extra “wow factor”.

Wonderful day with longtime friends

The cool thing about 2021 .. no rules! Make your wedding day about you and your groom!

  • Whether you want alpacas at your cocktail hour (we really had alpacas at a cocktail hour once) or no dance party. Make your wedding the wedding of YOUR dreams.

Create a wedding email early and do all your wedding planning through that email so nothing gets lost!

  • Example: BecomingTheJohnsons@gmail.com

Get your wedding insurance.

  • Things happen, we require liability insurance but will always recommend getting cancelation insurance as well.

Skip the wedding favors!

  • These just all get left at the end of the night and just more stuff for mom and dad to take home. Do a late-night snack instead. These are a huge hit!! There is nothing like a chocolate chip cookie for the drive home on a late night.

Skip the Programs!

  • These all just get left out on the ceremony chairs! Have a sign on an easel with the timeline to let guests know the plan for the night. It saves a lot of pick-up at the end of the night. If you want guests to receive something when they arrive I would have a champagne truck or champagne wall. ( of course with TABC servers)

Get your wedding day “things” organized in advance so you don’t have to worry about it on the day of.

  • Have your security officer’s cash, any vendor tips or payments ready in envelopes so you don’t have to stress about it.

Feed your Girls!

  • Typically the girls get to the bridal suite around 9 AM to start getting ready! That is at least a 15-hour day. Make sure to take care of your best girls with breakfast and lunch! Most do chick-fil-a trays or cheese boards. Both are always a hit!!

Take as many pictures as you can before the ceremony!

  • If you are anything like myself, you are going to want to go celebrate with your family and friends as soon as possible. Even if you are not doing a first look, take as many photos as you can with your family, bridesmaids, and the groom with his family and groomsmen before your ceremony. That will cut down on the time you are taking photos after your ceremony and before your reception.

Don’t sweat the small stuff or lose sight of what’s happening

  • You’re getting married! Have fun and soak it all in!

Thankful For Our First Year!

Happy Birthday to the French Farmhouse! We are so thankful for the wonderful year we have had. So, we want to share some of the things we are thankful for.

1.Our amazing brides and grooms. You guys mean the world to us. We love watching you go from living the engaged life, planning and excited to start your life together, to married life. It is amazing. We even have our first Farmhouse baby coming soon!

Wonderful day with longtime friends

2.The incredible friends and families we have met at the venue. There are a lot of people that come through the venue! We are blessed, and biased, but we truly have gotten to know some of the best families around.

3.Talented vendors and wedding pros! From hair and make-up, florists, photographers, videographers, caterers to other venue owners. We have been so grateful to meet some of the best wedding pros in the area, who also happen to be some of the best people in the area.

4.The stunning styled shoots we have had, and the amazing online and print publications that have taken the time to see our venue. It is surreal to see how each shoot transforms the Farmhouse. It is also pretty nuts to see the venue pop up in magazines and online publications.

5.We are SO thankful for the valuable lessons we have learned along the way. There is still so much to learn, and we are eager to keep growing. Thank you so much for following along on the journey. We wouldn’t be here without you.

Rehearsal Dinner Locations | The French Farmhouse Venue

After the months and months of planning, decisions become SO hard! Rehearsal Dinner can become an afterthought or something you just completely forgot to think about. Thankfully, where The French Farmhouse is located, you have some amazing options in every direction. Here are a few of our favorites!

Denton:

Hannah’s off The Square

Hannah’s is a great restaurant right off of the Historic Downtown Denton square. It has a great atmosphere and is so good for a group. Plus, you are within walking distance of the square! If you have family looking to find a post-rehearsal dinner spot for drinks or dessert, you are right by a bunch of fun options.

(940) 566-1110

11 W Mulberry St, Denton, TX 76201

Barley & Board

Located on the Denton Square, right on the corner of Oak and Locust! Barley & Board has a really great and unique menu with a huge beer selection. They also have a gorgeous party room for private events. Super cozy and amazing food. Plus, they just opened a second location in The Colony at Grandscape, if that is an easier location for you. However, we will always love the original!

Houlihan’s

Right inside of the Embassy Suites and Denton Convention Center, Houlihan’s is PERFECT if you have a bunch of family coming in from out of town and want to make the most of you all being in the same location. You can all stay in the Embassy, and just walk right downstairs for late-night dessert, and rehearsal dinner.

Frisco/ Plano:

Haywire

Haywire is really neat! It is located in Legacy West, on the border of Frisco and Plano, which is an incredible shopping area. Not only is it a great location for people from out of town, but Haywire has some delicious food. The first floor is a Whisky Bar, and the second and rooftop bar are beautiful restaurant seating.

Capital Grille

Just a classic! Capital Grille is an amazing steakhouse and would be amazing for a nice sit-down dinner for you and your closest family and friends. It’ll definitely set the tone for your wedding weekend kickoff, and never disappoints!

(972) 398-2221

7300 Dallas Pkwy, Plano, TX 75024

Maggianno’s Little Italy

If Italian food is your thing, you will be sold on Maggiano’s. They do family-style meals, which would be perfect for a group. Italian is one of those universal comfort foods, so you can’t go wrong!

(972) 781-0776

6001 W Park Blvd, Plano, TX 75093

Miscellaneous:

Kirby’s Steakhouse

Another great Steakhouse! They have amazing food and, since it is located in WinStar World Casino, there is pretty much all the entertainment you could dream of right outside the restaurant. As an added bonus, there is a hotel! It definitely feels wild to out-of-towners that we would suggest a restaurant/ hotel in another state, but we are so close to Oklahoma. It is just a quick drive up 35. So, if you and your family are coming in from the north, this is a great home base for everyone with endless entertainment possibilities.

(580) 276-1484

21444 World Way Dr, Thackerville, OK 73459

Prairie House

Delicious, southern home-style food! They have a great banquet room, and will provide the best southern comfort food the night before your big day! It is never a bad idea to treat yourself to your favorite’s on a big weekend!

(940) 440-9760

10001 US-380, Cross Roads, TX 76227

Marty B’s

Marty B’s is such a fun spot! They have a great family atmosphere with loads of entertainment, and a really great party option- the roof! They frequently have live music, which is always a plus. More importantly, their food is awesome.

Future Wedding: Kailey & Dylan

Introducing Kailey and Dylan! We can’t wait for these two to get married on December 11, 2021, as they plan to have a Christmas wedding!!

How did you meet?

Dylan and I first met at a mutual friend’s birthday party & later connected my 8th-grade year (his freshman) when his mom and him were moving into my grandparent’s rental house! I got a message from him on Facebook telling me we were going to be neighbors and “we should definitely hang out sometime!” We talked for quite a bit of time, but he finally asked me to be his girlfriend just in time to walk me in my first day of freshmen year of high school! From that day on, I had a forever school bus partner, travel buddy, my football player to my cheerleader, and my high school sweetheart.

How did he propose?

Dylan and I had been together for just over 7 years when he finally figured enough time had passed – haha. It was my senior year of college and I was on my last spring break ever – going to Walt Disney World of course (I might have a slight obsession with Disney..). Just a few days prior to us leaving for vacation I had found out I had gotten offered an internship at Walt Disney World that I had been praying for. What could POSSIBLY make this trip any better?? Little did I know what was coming… I was actually getting my senior pictures done at the Magic Kingdom itself when the greatest moment of my life happened. My mom and I went around the park with my photographer taking my photos while my best friends and Dylan “explored” the park (or so I thought, turns out they were trying to calm Dylan’s nerves). We met back up at the castle for some group pictures and the last picture she was taking was of me facing the castle. I stood there waiting for her to give me the okay to turn back around but instead I hear Dylan ask me to turn around. He then asked me to marry him, we cried, I cried a WHOLE bunch and then I was surprised with an engagement session in the park. We then celebrated the most magical proposal for the rest of the week at the most magical place on earth. (My engagement ring even has hidden mickeys on it! Good job babe😉)

Why did you pick The French Farmhouse Venue?

We started looking at venues over a year after our engagement, and I didn’t want to really make a decision because I’m so indecisive. We toured what I felt like almost every venue in our 80-mile radius and thought we had made a final decision. There were a few things holding me back from signing and one of those was that there wasn’t a fireplace. We were about a week away from signing our contract on a different venue and I stumbled upon The French Farmhouse’s Instagram. We fell in love with every detail over social media and scheduled a tour for the weekend. Not only did The French Farmhouse check every single one of our boxes, but they have TWO fireplaces!!! The French Farmhouse is everything we could ever dream of and it somehow just perfectly tied mine and Dylans style together, which is exactly what will happen on 12/11/21. From the moment we walked onto the property Dylan and I knew this place was special and to top it off Kelsey and her mom made us feel apart of the family. After we left the tour Dylan and I looked at each other and said “this is the one” and we signed that next weekend. ❤️

What are you most excited about getting married?

A few months before Dylan and I say “I do”, we will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary – “It’s about time” is an understatement! Besides the years that have gone by, we have spent many years bouncing around with college, internships, work and so much more. We are so ready to start our family and continue this life we’ve built so far. Getting to spend a day celebrating us two becoming one with many friends and family – including ones we’ve shared the high school hallways with, college classrooms, and the many family members we’ve both gained throughout the past decade – is just so heartwarming. I’m so excited to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.

Future Wedding: Brookelyn & Lane

Introducing Brookelyn and Lane!! These two cuties who met in the most unexpected place will say “I do” at The French Farmhouse Venue on October 15, 2021 and we could not be more excited!

How did you and Lane meet?

It was the summer of our junior year of high school and we had to take the dreaded SAT. We both went to different schools, so I had to travel to his school to take the test. We knew of each other and had actually talked to each other a few times, but stayed friends. I saw Lane in my assigned testing room and he would not stop staring at me. After each section of the exam he would put his head on the desk and stare at me under his arm, haha. A few hours after the test I decided to reach out to him and we have been together ever since!

How did he propose?

We were having a date night, or so I thought. I begged to stay home and just watch a movie, but Lane was very persistent that we go. The whole car ride he was acting very weird and not saying very much. I thought it was a little weird, but just brushed it off and didn’t think a lot into it. We were going to a the waterfall garden in downtown Dallas and had the worst time finding parking. He kept passing an empty parking lot and I couldn’t figure out why he wouldn’t park there. Little did I know our photographer, who is a good friend of mine, was parked in the lot and he didn’t want me to see her car. After we finally found a spot we walked down into the garden and I saw the photographer and ruined the surprise (oops)! When I saw her he knew he had to do it right then and he popped the question!! We still joke about it to this day how I ruined the surprise.

Why did you choose The French Farmhouse Venue?

I came across the French Farmhouse on Instagram and knew we had to see it. We had looked at so many venues online and never felt like any of them were “the one”. This was actually the first venue we had seen in person. We were in love before we had even stepped foot out of the car and knew right then we didn’t want to look anywhere else. It is absolutely gorgeous and everything we wanted. The atmosphere is amazing. Michelle and Kelsey also made our decision very easy. They are so sweet! We are so excited for our big day!

What are you both most excited about getting married?

Brookelyn: I am so excited to be with my best friend every day, forever! We have so much fun together and I can’t wait to see what new memories we make.

Lane: The thing I am the most excited about getting married is being able to have a cuddle buddy every night unless I get kicked to the couch. Along with being able to start our own family and own family traditions. I can’t wait to have my lifetime fishing partner. I am so excited for this next season of life.

Future Wedding: Tyler & Ashley

Introducing Tyler and Ashley! We can’t wait for these two to say “I DO” on April 10, 2021!

How/When did you two meet?

We met in Physical Therapy school at our class Halloween party. Tyler was dressed as Napoleon Dynamite and I was a biker, what a match. After a few months of saying hi in the hallways, he asked me on a date and we’ve been together since!

How did Tyler propose?

Tyler proposed in Palo Duro Canyon. After hiking all day, we got dressed up and went out to dinner. Then, we returned to the canyon at sunset where Tyler had a photographer waiting to capture the moment! This place is extra special because its where we took our first trip together when we first started dating.

Why did you choose The French Farmhouse Venue?

We wanted a venue that was timeless, and somewhere our guests would enjoy celebrating as much as we will. Visiting the French Farmhouse gave us a glimpse of everything we could hope for in a venue, and can’t wait to see it come to life on the day of.

What are you most excited about for your big day?

We are most excited to begin building a life together as we start our careers, and one day a family!
